He Eats!

Today mom made some apple sauce to give to Charb. She asked him to open his mouth if he wanted to eat some and he did! We could see him concentrating very hard on opening his mouth, and after a few seconds he opened it wide to take a bite. Mom only gave him little amounts, but he seemed to have no problem swallowing.

Mom has been giving Charb little spoon fulls of water and pudding for a while now, but this was the first time that he opened his mouth so regularly. He seems to be getting better at it all the time....he looks like a baby bird when he opens his mouth and eats! Its so cute.

He was also drinking water from a spoon and seemed to enjoy it. Soon he'll be eating steaks and cereal!

Today he also gave us more kisses, even me (Rachel)! He gave mom a sweet kiss on the cheek and then was smiling. It's so nice to see Charb interacting with us finally.

Charb makes progress!

Charbel has made a lot of progress in the past two weeks, and it has been amazing to watch him gain more control over his body. He is now able to lift his head up and place it back on his headrest. He is also able to move both of his arms up and down (although the right side is a lot stronger). He can even give us a thumbs up and a smile!

Today he even gave mom and dad kisses! Talk about progress...it seems like each day Charbel is working harder and harder to get stronger and to regain his ability to move and communicate. He is more aware of his surroundings and is quite alert most of the day, answering questions by blinking or moving, and following simple commands. Quite a miraculous thing!

Hope, prayers, and hard work are helping Charbel to recover....always believe that anything is possible!
